Kaaress

Attwater's yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 25 winners, and Kaaress has played its part. The horse most often teams up with jockey Harry Russell, who has ridden it in 15 races and won 2 of them — roughly 1 in every 7 rides together, which is a meaningful partnership at this level. The horse opened its account at Wolverhampton in September 2023, and that track has remained a happy hunting ground: 2 wins from 9 races there, meaning it wins roughly 1 in every 4 or 5 times it turns up. For a horse that competes mainly in Class 6 company — the entry level of British racing — that kind of course familiarity is genuinely useful.

The conditions and distance matter too. Kaaress goes particularly well on normal ground, winning 3 of its 16 races in those conditions — close to 1 in every 5 — and it finds its best form at a distance of around a mile and three or four furlongs. The horse raced just one day ago, so it is very much active and in the thick of a busy campaign. The trajectory is pointing upward — a horse that knows where it likes to run, what ground suits it, and what distance brings out its best is one that the yard can place confidently. Kaaress will not be troubling the top races in Britain any time soon, but at its level, it is exactly the kind of consistent, well-placed performer that makes a yard tick.
