That said, Jubilee Jack is only four years old and raced just yesterday, so the story is very much still being written. At this age, some horses take time to find their feet, and the fact that he is still being actively campaigned suggests his trainer has not given up on uncovering something worth having.
That trainer is Harriet Dickin, operating out of Midford in Somerset. It is a small yard by the standards of the sport's big names, but it has sent out four winners already this season — which, for an outfit of its size, is a perfectly respectable return. Dickin clearly knows how to place a horse to win, and the question now is whether she can find the right race and the right conditions to get the best out of Jubilee Jack. He has not shown it yet, but that is precisely what trainers are for.
