Trained by Jackie Stephen at Lilliesleaf in Roxburghshire, Joie More operates mainly at Class 4 level — the bread-and-butter tier of British racing — and has run nine times at that grade without a win. Stephen's yard has sent out three winners this season, so the operation clearly knows how to get a horse to the line first. Whether Joie More can become the next one remains the question.

Recent form reads 3rd and 4th in its last two completed races before a couple of blank runs, and the horse was out just yesterday, so it is very much an active campaign. At eight years old, time is not necessarily on its side, but horses can surprise you. For now, Joie More is the kind of horse that keeps turning up — and one day, that persistence might just be enough.
