Jaminoz

The ground is the key to understanding Jaminoz. On slightly soft conditions, it wins 3 from 12 races — 1 in every 4. Move into really wet, muddy ground and that jumps to 2 wins from just 4 attempts, a 50% return that is simply extraordinary. When the rain falls and the ground gets heavy, Jaminoz transforms into a completely different proposition. Plenty of horses tolerate soft ground; far fewer actively improve the worse it gets.

Then there is Hamilton Park. Four of its six career wins have come at that circuit — 4 from 28 races, and the most recent of those came as recently as 3 September 2025. That kind of attachment to a single track is not coincidence. Some horses clearly respond to a particular layout, the camber of the bends, the run-in, the atmosphere — whatever the reason, Jaminoz keeps coming back to Hamilton and keeps delivering there in a way it rarely does elsewhere.

Jaminoz is trained by Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore at their yard in Milnathort in Perth and Kinross — a partnership that has sent out 49 winners already this season, which tells you this is a well-run operation with horses in good form. In the saddle, Archie Young has ridden it most often, partnering Jaminoz 8 times for 1 win together. The recent form reads 5-4-8-8-4-1, so after a couple of disappointing efforts mid-sequence, it bounced back with a win and has since placed twice — the horse is clearly still competing and racing just yesterday confirms it is bang in the middle of an active campaign.

This is not a horse for the big occasions. Class 6 is the level where it operates and wins — 5 of its 6 victories have come there, which is the entry level of British racing. But finding what a horse does well and putting it in a position to do it is exactly the job, and on a wet day at Hamilton, Jaminoz is a horse you want to know about.
