What makes this horse worth keeping an eye on, at least for now, is the trainer behind it. J P Flavin operates out of Tramore in County Waterford, and the yard has sent out 10 winners already this season — a sign that good horses are leaving those stables in decent shape. The fact that Jack Inthe Jukebox has raced as recently as yesterday means Flavin clearly has not given up on finding the right opportunity, and sometimes it only takes one good day for the picture to change entirely.

For now, though, patience is the watchword. A horse that has finished no better than ninth in its last three races has some ground to make up — literally and figuratively. Whether a change of conditions or a drop in class eventually unlocks something remains to be seen, but with an active yard behind it and another race clearly imminent, the story is not finished yet.
