John and Thady Gosden are among the most powerful training operations in Britain, based out of Newmarket in Suffolk, and this season alone their yard has sent out 140 winners. That is a remarkable volume — it means horses leave that stable and win races at a serious rate. For a horse yet to break its duck, being trained by that team is arguably the best possible situation to be in. The Gosdens know how to find the right race for the right horse, and they have the depth of experience to keep patient with a young animal still finding its feet.

Raced just yesterday and still active, there will be more chances to come. At three years old, there is no urgency — plenty of horses take time to figure things out, and the Gosden yard is not short of options when it comes to placing a horse in a race that suits. The single place finish shows there is something there; it just has not quite clicked yet.
