What works in Irish Ballet's favour is the address on the stable door. Henry De Bromhead's yard in Knockeen, County Waterford is one of the most respected operations in jumping, and this season alone the team has sent out 107 winners — that's not a quiet little yard hoping for a moment in the sun, that's a powerhouse with the staff, the horses, and the knowhow to get results. When a trainer of that calibre keeps running a horse, it usually means they believe there's a performance in there worth waiting for.
Irish Ballet raced just yesterday, so whatever De Bromhead and the team are trying to unlock, they're actively trying. A fresher horse with a longer break between runs might be easier to write off. This one is clearly in the thick of a campaign, being tested and kept busy. Sometimes that persistence pays off when the right conditions finally come together. For now, though, the wins column remains empty, and Irish Ballet has a bit of work to do to justify the patience being shown.
