Involvement

Involvement is a five-year-old trained by Simon and Ed Crisford out of their Newmarket yard, and the operation is flying right now — 85 winners already this season from a team that knows exactly what it is doing. The horse started its winning account at Redcar in September 2023, but the moment that really announced it was a victory in a Class 2 race at the Newmarket July meeting in the summer of 2024. Class 2 means one of the better races in the British calendar — not quite the headline events, but the kind of race where you need genuine quality to win. Doing it on the July course at Newmarket, one of the most prestigious venues in the sport, was a proper statement.

What makes the current picture even more interesting is that the most recent win came at Meydan just three weeks ago, in early March 2026. Meydan, in Dubai, is a long way from a Suffolk training yard, and horses that perform at that level on the international stage are operating in a different bracket. The yard clearly believes in this horse enough to travel it, and it delivered. That gives Involvement wins on two very different continents, which is not something most horses manage.

The recent form reads 1-1-3-5-11 going back through the last six runs, and while there is a wide gap between the two wins, the placing record shows a horse that is nearly always involved — seven places from ten races in total. At Class 2 level, where it does most of its racing, it has won 1 from 5 (20%), which sounds modest but reflects just how competitive that tier is. The fact it keeps getting placed at that level, and occasionally winning, suggests a horse that belongs there. Still active and last seen racing 23 days ago, Involvement looks like it has more to say this season.
