Inside Man

The evidence is hard to argue with over longer distances. In his 8 races run at two miles or further, Inside Man has won 4 of them — exactly half. That is not a fluke. Plenty of horses look ordinary at shorter trips and then suddenly click when given more ground to travel, and this horse is a textbook example. Williams identified early that he needs a proper test, noting that a good strong gallop suits him — races where the pace is honest from the start and the field has to keep working.

The partnership with jockey David Noonan has been quietly devastating. In their 7 races together, Noonan has ridden Inside Man to 3 wins — a win rate of 43%, or roughly 3 in every 7. That is the kind of number that makes a trainer keep booking the same jockey. Williams has also been clear that this horse can be a handful — he has a tendency to get worked up and run too freely early in a race, burning energy he will need later. The fact that he has learned to settle and finish strongly is a sign he is maturing.

Williams has been open about her long-term plan: she sees Inside Man as a chaser. In her words, he is "a chaser in the long term," and after winning at Chepstow under a penalty — which she described as genuinely difficult to do — she signalled that jumping fences is the next step. His yard has sent out 21 winners this season, so this is a team in form, and a horse they clearly believe in.

He raced just one day ago and last won at Newton Abbot in September 2025. The recent form — two placings sandwiched around a mid-race slump — suggests he might be finding his feet again after that win. But with his record over distance, a settled style when things click, and a trainer with a clear plan, Inside Man looks like a horse whose best days are still coming.
