Nine places from 24 races is actually a decent haul — it means the horse has finished in the frame more often than not — but converting those placed efforts into wins has proved elusive. At the level it most often competes at, Illogical Logic has gone 0 from 11 attempts, which suggests it tends to find one or two horses too good on the day.

Recent form tells an interesting story. Going back through the last six runs, the sequence reads two seconds, a third, a fourth, a sixth, and then a blank — so for a spell there, this horse was running into form nicely, closing in on a win before the momentum faded. It raced just one day ago, so it is very much an active runner, and trainer Christian Williams — based on the South Wales coast at Ogmore-By-Sea — clearly believes there is more to come. Williams has had 25 winners this season, so he knows how to place a horse, and the fact that Illogical Logic keeps being sent out suggests the team sees races it can be competitive in.

That is a modest return, but Tudor is one of the more promising young jump jockeys in Wales and the southwest, so the partnership is not without quality. For a horse that has spent eight years finding ways to finish second, third, or fourth, the name Illogical Logic starts to feel less like a joke and more like a diagnosis. The win is on the board.
