The first win came at Doncaster in November 2025, and then, after a winter break, I'll Be Back returned to Leicester just this week and did it again. Back-to-back wins at two different tracks suggest this is not a horse that got lucky once on a favourable day — it has shown up, done the job, and gone home unbeaten on each occasion.
Behind the horse is K R Burke's yard, based at Coverham in North Yorkshire, which is one of the most productive operations in British racing right now. With 140 winners already sent out this season, Burke's team is not short of quality horses or big days — so when they run a horse, they tend to know what they are doing with it. A 3-year-old coming into spring with a flawless record and a powerful yard behind it is exactly the kind of animal that gets people interested.
The honest caveat is that two races is a very small sample. A 100% win rate sounds extraordinary, and it is, but it also means there is still a great deal to find out. What happens when the competition gets tougher, or the conditions change, or the horse faces a longer trip? Those questions are still unanswered. What is clear is that I'll Be Back has given no reason for doubt yet, and with a race just 24 hours ago, it is very much a story still being written.
