Hot Silk

What makes the situation interesting is who is overseeing her development. James Fanshawe's yard at Newmarket is one of the sharper operations in British racing this season — 47 winners from a single campaign is a serious body of work, and it means Fanshawe knows how to get horses to perform. The fact that Hot Silk is still being entered and raced — she ran just yesterday — suggests the team has not given up on finding the right opportunity for her.

Three races is also a small sample. Some horses simply need time, or a different test, before something clicks. At the moment there is nothing remarkable to report, but Hot Silk is young, active, and in capable hands — and that, for now, is about as optimistic a story as the numbers allow.
