What makes the situation genuinely interesting is the yard he comes from. Gavin Cromwell, based in Navan, Co. Meath, has sent out 96 winners this season alone. That is a serious training operation, and horses stabled there tend to improve with experience and time. Harry raced just yesterday, so whatever Cromwell learned from that run is fresh, and decisions about where he goes next will be made with current form very much in mind.
For now, Hot Rock Harry is a horse still finding his feet. Two races is a small sample — plenty of horses take three, four, or even more outings before things click. The question is whether the penny drops soon, because with a trainer of Cromwell's quality, the opportunity will be there when it does.
