Hot Fuss

The quality is real, too. Two of those four wins have come in Class 2 races — among the better contests you will find in British racing. The most recent of those was at Windsor in January 2026, which counts as a big result for any horse. Before that, Hot Fuss won at Sandown Park in December 2024, also at Class 2 level. A horse winning twice at that standard in winter, on soft ground, is not a fluke — it is a pattern.

Step up to the very highest level and the story changes. Hot Fuss has run 7 times in Class 1 company — the top tier of the sport — and has not won any of them. That is not a disgrace; Class 1 races are the hardest to win in the country, and simply being entered in them says something about how the Tom Dascombe yard rates this horse. Dascombe, based at Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, has sent out 22 winners already this season, so this is a busy and capable operation.

The recent form reads 14-2-–-1-4-2 — a fourteenth, two seconds, a gap, a win, a fourth, and another second. That one in the middle is the Windsor Class 2 victory from January. Since then, the results have been modest, and it raced just yesterday, so there is plenty of current information to work with as the season develops. Pierre-Louis Jamin has ridden Hot Fuss in 10 of its races and won once — a win rate of 10%, or 1 from 10 — which is on the modest side, though a jockey's record on a single horse rarely tells the whole story.

The simple version: watch Hot Fuss when the ground is wet, the distance is between seven furlongs and a mile, and the race is not at the very top level. That combination has produced most of what this horse does best.
