There is not much to judge a horse on after a single race, and a debut eighth is far from a headline result. But first runs for two-year-olds are often as much about education as they are about winning — getting a young horse to the track, through the noise and the crowd, and back in one piece is a result of sorts in itself. What matters now is how High Morals comes out of that experience and what the team do with it next.
The trainer is William Durkan, operating out of Sandyford in County Dublin. With 13 winners already on the board this season, Durkan's yard is clearly in decent form, which at least suggests High Morals is in capable hands as it begins to learn the job.
