Heffernan Kingdom

Trained by Ben Haslam at Middleham Moor in North Yorkshire, Heffernan Kingdom is learning the ropes in a yard that clearly knows what it's doing. Haslam's team has sent out 35 winners already this season, which tells you this is a stable capable of developing young horses into competitive performers. Whether Heffernan Kingdom follows that path is still an open question, but being placed on debut is a decent enough beginning — it means the horse was in the mix, even if the winning post came a little too soon.

There simply isn't enough racing history yet to say much more, and that's what makes this an interesting name to watch rather than to judge. The next run will tell us a great deal.
