Havana Oaks

At two years old, there is plenty of time for things to click. Horses at this age are still maturing physically and mentally, and it is not unusual for a youngster to need several races before the penny drops. The worry would be if the form suggested it was getting further away from the action — but three finishes clustered around fifth and sixth point to a horse that belongs in these races, just not one winning them yet.

The trainer is Ivan Furtado, operating out of Wiseton in South Yorkshire, and his yard has been in strong form this season with 43 winners already on the board. That kind of output means Furtado knows how to get horses ready to perform, which is at least some encouragement for Havana Oaks. With the horse having raced as recently as yesterday, the team are clearly keeping it busy and giving it every opportunity to find its feet.
