She is trained by Micky Hammond at his yard in Middleham, North Yorkshire — one of the great racing towns in Britain, nestled in the Yorkshire Dales and home to several respected stables. Hammond's operation has been in decent nick this season, sending out 25 winners, which shows there is no shortage of ability in the yard. The question with Hashtag Queen is whether the team can find the right opportunity to unlock what she is clearly yet to show — because six races without a win at five years old means time is not exactly on her side.

What she does have is consistency of a frustrating kind. She has finished in the top half of the field in three of her six races, including that third-place finish which represents her best effort so far. She is not being embarrassed; she is just not winning. For a horse in Hammond's care — a yard clearly capable of getting horses competitive — the hope will be that a small tweak in race conditions or trip eventually brings that first win. Until then, Hashtag Queen remains one of those horses who turns up reliably and leaves you wondering what it will finally take.
