Handlethekettle

The partnership with jockey Gavin Sheehan has been the engine behind much of this success. In six races together, Sheehan has steered Handlethekettle to four wins — a 67% win rate that suggests real understanding between horse and rider. That kind of consistency with one pilot matters; it means the horse is learning, responding, and getting a ride that plays to its strengths. Trainer Jamie Snowden, based at the famous Lambourn yard in Berkshire, has built a formidable operation this season with 82 winners already saddled, and Handlethekettle sits among his best performers. The horse also holds a strong record in Class 4 races, winning two of three starts at that level.

The main question now is sharpness. Handlethekettle has been away from the track for nine months — its last outing was that July win at Worcester — and a break that long can dull even a good horse's edge. That said, its overall record is hard to ignore: four wins and six places from seven races represents a 57% win rate, which is exceptional consistency at any level. When it returns, expect the yard to ease it back in carefully, probably at Worcester first, where they know it belongs.
