The horse showed early promise with a debut win at Southwell on 11 March 2025, and has since claimed two more victories at the same track — winning twice from just three races there. That kind of record at a single course is the mark of a genuine specialist. By contrast, when stepped up to the highest level races available to him, Hammer The Hammer has managed nothing: zero wins from four attempts at Class 1 or 2 standard. It is a pattern that suggests his real level lies a tier or two below the very top.

Tom Eaves, the jockey, has the measure of this horse better than anyone. In seven races together, they have won three times — a partnership win rate of nearly 43 per cent, well above the horse's general average. That kind of connection matters in racing, and whenever Eaves is in the saddle, Hammer The Hammer performs noticeably better. The trainer Kevin Ryan, based in Hambleton, North Yorkshire, has had a productive season with 45 winners sent out from the yard, and this horse is part of that solid team effort.

The concern, though, is timing. Hammer The Hammer's most recent win came on 7 May 2025 at Chester — sixteen months ago. Since then, nothing. The horse raced six times in the last period and failed to reach the winner's enclosure, with finishes of 18th, 21st, 16th, 14th, 6th, and 5th. That losing run is worth noting, even if the most recent run came just yesterday. At four years old, with the Eaves partnership working and a clear preference for Southwell, there may yet be another win in this horse, but he will need conditions — and perhaps a return to the track where he has thrived — to find it again.
