Haarar

Sam England trains him out of Guiseley in West Yorkshire, and it is clearly a yard that knows what it is doing. England has sent out 49 winners already this season, and Haarar is a good illustration of his methods: patient, practical, and profitable. The trainer has spoken warmly about how straightforward Haarar is to deal with — "so straightforward," in his own words — and has been candid about ironing out some small issues along the way. England's plan is to mix racing on the flat with jumping hurdles across the season, and he believes there are more wins to come, pointing to races over longer distances, up to two and a half miles, as the territory where Haarar can keep doing damage.

The partnership with jockey Jonathan England — the trainer's son — is worth noting. In 16 races together they have won 4 times, a win rate of 25%, which is meaningfully better than Haarar's overall career average. When that combination clicks, it tends to click well. On normal ground, the horse has won 2 of just 4 races — a 50% record — suggesting conditions really do suit him when they are right. The trainer has noted he can get jarred up on fast, dry ground, so getting the conditions right matters.

He last won at Carlisle in February 2026, and his recent form across the last six races reads 5-4-10-4-1-1 — two wins, then a dip, then a couple of mid-field efforts, then fifth most recently. He raced just yesterday, so he is clearly in a busy spell. He kicked off his career with his first win at Windsor back in May 2022, and four years on he is still competitive, still racing, and still capable of finding the winning post. That longevity alone tells you something about how well he has been managed.
