Guinelot

The bright spot in his record is his win at Ballinrobe on 20 July, which came about four weeks ago. At a track that clearly suits him, Guinelot showed enough to get his head in front when it mattered. Trainer K J Condon, based at Rathbride in Co Kildare, has only sent out four winners all season, so a victory is never routine from this yard. For a young horse under these circumstances, Guinelot's breakthrough was valuable — the kind of win that builds a horse's confidence and tells you something genuine is there. Whether he can return to that form and build on it, rather than drift back into the wilderness of tenth-place finishes, is the next chapter in his story.
