Those two wins are separated by nearly eight months, which gives you a sense of the patience required to follow Greenways. The first came at Hereford in November 2024, the second at Uttoxeter in July 2025 — and since then, silence. Six races without a win, with finishes of fifth, unplaced, unplaced, sixth, third, and unplaced in its most recent outings. The third place is encouraging in the sense that the horse is still finding its way into contention, but the overall picture is one of a horse that has gone cold.

Greenways typically races at Class 5, which is the entry-level end of the sport in Britain. At that level, it has won 2 of 23 races — roughly 1 in every 11 — which is a modest return even by the standards of that company. The 11 places alongside those two wins suggest a horse that is genuinely trying and not disgracing itself, but which struggles to put everything together when it counts. Normal ground conditions suit it best: both wins have come on a standard surface, and across 14 races in those conditions it has won 2, or about 1 in 7 — its best ratio anywhere.

Ryan Potter trains the horse from a small yard in Sellack, Herefordshire, and has sent out six winners this season — a modest but respectable total for an operation of that size. Ben Poste rides Greenways most regularly, with the pair having won once from eight races together, a win rate of 12%, or roughly 1 in 8. That is actually a slightly better return than the horse's overall record, which suggests the partnership is at least working in the right direction.

Greenways raced just yesterday, which means it is very much in the middle of its current campaign. Whether last summer's Uttoxeter win was a high point or simply a reminder of what this horse can occasionally produce, the next few races should tell us something.
