Good To Be Alive

Trained by Olly Murphy out of Wilmcote in Warwickshire, Good To Be Alive is part of a yard that has sent out 146 winners this season alone — that is a serious operation, and horses in that stable tend to be placed with care and raced when conditions suit them. Murphy knows what he has here, and the record backs that up.

The horse opened its winning account at Fairyhouse in February 2025, then added a second victory at Plumpton in January 2026. Two different tracks, two different countries — that suggests a horse that travels well and adapts. The Plumpton win came just three months ago, so the form is live and recent. Looking at the last six runs in order — a fifth, two seconds, a win, and then two blank runs since — there is a slight question mark over those latest outings, though the horse raced just yesterday, so there may well be more to come from this campaign before long.

At five years old, Good To Be Alive is still young enough to be improving, and with a team behind it that clearly knows how to place a horse to win, it would be no surprise to see that tally tick upward before the season is out.
