What is worth noting is that Gonewild raced just yesterday, so this is a horse very much in active training and clearly being kept busy. That kind of regular racing often means a yard is trying to find the right opportunity — the right race, the right conditions — to unlock what the horse can do.

The trainer is Martin Brassil, operating out of Dunmurray in County Kildare, and the yard has been in decent nick this season with 13 winners already on the board. Brassil is no stranger to placing horses well, so the fact that Gonewild hasn't yet won shouldn't be read as a sign of giving up on the horse. If anything, keeping it active suggests the team still believes there's a win in there somewhere. Whether Gonewild can deliver on that faith is the question — but with a placed finish already on the record and a trainer who knows what he's doing, it would be premature to write this one off just yet.
