Trained by Billy Aprahamian at Towcester in Northamptonshire, Golly Gosh races at a mid-tier level where, in theory, the competition should be within reach. The yard has sent out 12 winners this season, so there is clearly ability in the team to get horses to perform — Golly Gosh just hasn't been one of them yet. In three races at that level, the record reads zero wins from three attempts, and there are no signs of a near-miss to cling to.
Having raced just yesterday, this is a horse very much still in active service. Whether Aprahamian sees something in training that the racecourse hasn't yet reflected is hard to say, but at some point results need to follow. For now, Golly Gosh remains one of racing's honest triers — turning up, doing the job, and waiting for a day that hasn't arrived yet.
