Trained by Denis Gerard Hogan out of Cloughjordan in County Tipperary — a yard that has sent out 56 winners already this season, so this is no small operation — God Of Thunder made its first career win at Wolverhampton in November 2023. Most of its best form has come over longer trips, between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, where it has won 3 of its 20 races at that distance. That 15% win rate over staying trips is meaningfully better than its overall record, which suggests it genuinely needs the extra ground to show its best.

Normal conditions suit it well. On a standard surface it has won 2 of its last 9 races at that distance combination, a 22% win rate that is actually quite respectable at this level — that is closer to one in every four or five rather than one in eleven. When the ground is right and the trip is right, God Of Thunder is a different proposition. Its most recent win came at Limerick in June 2025, and while that is now eleven months ago, it raced just one day ago, so it is clearly still very much an active campaigner.

The recent run of form makes for sobering reading — finishing ninth, seventh, twentieth, ninth, twelfth, and seventh across its last six outings, with no win in that spell. That twentieth-place finish stands out as a particularly rough day at the office. Regular partner Daniel King has ridden it in eight races together for one win, a 12% return, which is below the horse's overall average but not dramatically so. God Of Thunder tends to compete at the fourth tier of racing rather than the top level, which is exactly where a horse with this profile belongs — competitive enough to place twelve times across a career, but not the kind to light up a big stage. It places more often than it wins, and for a horse at this level, consistency in the frame is what keeps the yard — the yard — coming back for more.
