That said, the recent form does show a small flicker of improvement worth noting. Those finishing positions of fourth, fourth, and fourth across three consecutive races suggest Go To Town is at least running more consistently now than earlier efforts like tenth and eleventh implied. Finishing fourth repeatedly is not glamorous, but it is a step removed from the back of the field — the horse is finding its level, even if that level hasn't yet included a podium finish.
Go To Town races out of Ross O'Sullivan's yard in Kilcullen, Co Kildare, and that is probably the most encouraging thing in this profile. O'Sullivan has sent out 35 winners already this season, which tells you this is a yard that knows how to get horses ready to win. The fact that Go To Town hasn't managed it yet is not for lack of a capable operation behind it. With a race as recently as yesterday, the team clearly still believes there is something to work with here.
Whether that belief is rewarded remains to be seen. Seven runs is a reasonable sample, and the truth is this horse has not yet shown the form to suggest a win is just around the corner. But horses trained by busy, successful yards don't tend to keep running without purpose — and with O'Sullivan's team firing on all cylinders this season, it would be no great surprise if Go To Town's record eventually gets off zero.
