The most recent win came at Windsor in July 2025, and the form since then tells an interesting story. Reading the last six runs from most recent backwards — third, third, second, first, sixth, fifth — you can see a horse that had a wobble, found its best again with that Windsor victory, and has since settled into a pattern of solid placed efforts. It raced just yesterday, which means this is a horse in the middle of an active campaign rather than one being freshened up for a single big target.

At the Class 5 level where Ghost Story competes most often — the bread-and-butter tier of British racing, where most horses spend the bulk of their careers — the record reads one win from six races, or roughly one in six. That might sound modest, but the placed finishes stack up around it, and the overall picture is of a horse that is competitive at this level without always having the final gear to win outright.

The partnership with jockey David Egan is worth noting. In five races together, they have won twice — a win rate of 40%, or two in every five rides. That is a genuinely strong record, and the kind of ratio that makes a trainer keep putting the same jockey back up. Ghost Story is trained by John Butler at Newmarket, one of British racing's great training centres, and Butler's yard has sent out 27 winners this season alone — a productive operation that clearly knows how to place its horses well. The fact that Ghost Story got its first win at Nottingham back in July 2024 and has since added another at Windsor suggests a horse that has developed steadily rather than promised everything early and delivered nothing later.
