The five-year-old has been off the track for around six months now, which is a significant break. Whether that time away reflects a minor setback, a change of plan, or simply the yard waiting for the right opportunity is hard to say — but returning after that kind of absence means she will need to find her rhythm again before she can be expected to improve on what we have seen so far.

She is trained by Anthony McCann, who operates out of Castleblaney in County Monaghan. The yard has sent out six winners already this season, so McCann clearly knows how to get a horse ready to perform. The question is whether Georgies Pearl, with her current record, can be one of those winners rather than one of the ones filling out the field. Backers will want to see clear signs of progress before getting too excited — but every horse is a work in progress, and a trainer with a functioning yard and winners on the board at least gives her a fair chance to find her feet.
