Georgia's Charm

The recent sequence of 5-4-5-8-2, read right to left, tells an interesting story. She was second, then drifted back through the field across her next few runs, before finding a bit of consistency again with a pair of fifth-place efforts. She raced just yesterday, so she is clearly an active, busy horse whose trainer is keeping her ticking over and looking for the right opportunity.

That trainer is Fergal O'Brien, based at Withington in Gloucestershire, and this is a yard that absolutely knows how to get horses winning. Ninety winners already this season is a serious number — that is a big, productive operation, not a small stable hoping for the occasional lucky break. When a yard is firing at that volume, you trust that the team have a plan, and that Georgia's Charm is still in the programme for a reason. O'Brien has the horses and the know-how to place them in races where they can genuinely compete. The fact that a six-year-old without a win is still being actively campaigned by a trainer of his calibre suggests there is belief here that the right race is out there. Whether Georgia's Charm can finally convert is the question — but she is in good hands trying to find out.
