The win rate of 4 from 38 — roughly 1 in every 10 races — is modest, and the current form makes for uncomfortable reading. Ganesha has gone 6 races without a win, with recent finishes of 13th, 6th, 5th, 10th, 9th and 7th. The 5th and 6th suggest it is still knocking on the door, but the 13th in the most recent run, just a day ago, is not encouraging. At five years old, this is a horse that should be approaching its prime, which makes the flat recent patch all the more frustrating for trainer Phillip Makin and his yard in Easingwold, North Yorkshire.

The most interesting number in Ganesha's record is this: 2 wins from 7 races at Hamilton Park. That might not sound like much, but across the rest of its career — 31 races at other tracks — it has only won twice more. Hamilton, a tight, undulating left-handed circuit in South Lanarkshire, simply suits this horse in a way most tracks do not. Its win rate there works out at roughly 1 in every 3.5 races, compared to 1 in every 15 elsewhere. That is not a coincidence — that is a genuine course preference, and it is the kind of stat worth bookmarking.

Most of Ganesha's races have come at Class 5 level, which is the bread-and-butter tier of British racing — competitive enough, but well below the big occasions. At that level, it has won just 1 from 16, a 6% win rate, which suggests it is often outclassed even in its routine races. Regular jockey Rowan Scott has been on board for 23 of those 38 races and has ridden 2 of the 4 career wins — a solid partnership, even if the numbers are not spectacular.

The last win came at Newcastle in March 2025, now 15 months ago. Makin's yard has sent out 9 winners this season, so the form is there in the stable. The question is when Ganesha finds its way back to Hamilton Park.
