Get the conditions right and this horse is competitive. Get them wrong and you are probably wasting your time. Most of Gallant Lion's racing life has been spent in Class 4 company — solid, mid-level races, not the very top tier but far from a pushover. The win rate there is just 1 from 16 races, which is honestly modest for that level, and suggests the horse finds winning genuinely hard work when it is pitched against its natural rivals. The last win came at Chepstow on 30 May 2025, so there is now an 11-month gap without a victory to contend with, and the six most recent efforts — finishing 11th, 8th, 9th, 5th, 2nd, and 5th — paint a picture of a horse that is running consistently without quite getting its nose in front.
