The recent form tells an interesting story, though. Those two seconds came earlier in the sequence, and the last two runs both ended in seventh place. Whether that represents a dip in form or simply tougher competition is the kind of thing Kevin Ryan's yard will be working out right now — and working out quickly, given that Fozzie raced just yesterday and is very much an active project.
Ryan himself is one of the more reliable names in British racing. Based at Hambleton in North Yorkshire, his operation has already sent out 45 winners this season — that is a serious number, and it tells you this is a yard that knows how to get horses ready to perform. A horse sitting on zero wins from four races is far from a lost cause in hands like these. Many good horses take time to put it all together, and with two places already on the board, Fozzie clearly knows where the finishing line is.
