At three years old, there is still plenty of time for things to click. Some horses take a while to work out what racing is actually about, and a yard with 42 winners on the board this season clearly knows how to get horses running well. That's Rod Millman's operation out of Kentisbeare in Devon — a long way from the big training centres in Newmarket or Lambourn, but clearly a yard that gets results. Having a trainer in that kind of form is no small thing for a horse still searching for its moment. Millman having sent out 42 winners this season means he wins, on average, roughly once every few days — this is a busy, productive yard, not one sending horses out to make up the numbers.
Follow My Heart raced just yesterday, so everything is very live and very current. The next run will be telling — another finish outside the places and questions will start to mount, but a step forward into a place, or better, would suggest the fourth-place finish was the beginning of something rather than a fluke.
