The career arc is an interesting one. Flying Comet got off the mark at Chepstow in July 2025, then went on to win at Meydan in January 2026 — the famous Dubai venue that hosts some of the world's most watched racing. That is a wide geographical range for a young horse, and it speaks to the ambition of the Simon and Ed Crisford yard, one of the most productive operations in British racing this season with 85 winners sent out already. Based in Newmarket, the heartland of British flat racing, the Crisfords clearly see something in this horse worth travelling for.
The recent form does raise a small question mark. Flying Comet won two of its last six races, but the most recent run — 51 days ago — was a sixth-place finish, which is the worst result on the card. That said, the form either side of it includes a win and a third, so one poor run in an otherwise consistent sequence is hardly a red flag. The short break since that last outing suggests the team have given it time to regroup rather than rushing it back.
At Class 5 level, Flying Comet has won one from three races — roughly one in three at that grade, which is perfectly solid without being overwhelming. The Meydan win, however, suggests there may be more in the locker when the right opportunity comes along. A horse trained at Newmarket, capable of winning abroad at three years old, with a win rate most horses at any level would envy — Flying Comet is one to watch as the season develops.
