On that surface, the record reads 2 wins from 10 races, a 20% win rate, or roughly 1 in every 5. For context, most horses at this level are doing well to win 1 in 8. When the ground is right, Fine Point becomes a genuinely different proposition.

The partnership with jockey Lorcan Murtagh is worth noting. Together they have won 1 from 7 races — 14%, or just under 1 in 7 — and Murtagh clearly understands how to get the best from this horse. The trainer is Adam Nicol, based up in Seahouses on the Northumberland coast, a yard that has sent out 26 winners already this season. That is not a small operation quietly plodding along — that is a trainer in form, and Fine Point appears to be benefiting from it.

The first win came at Kempton Park in April 2025, and now there is a second at Hexham in May 2026. Two different tracks, more than a year apart — this is not a horse that fluked one result and went quiet. Fine Point competes mostly at Class 5, which is the bread-and-butter level of British racing, and has won 1 from 6 at that grade, roughly 1 in 6. Not dominant, but the upward curve in recent runs suggests the best may not yet have been seen. A horse that won yesterday, is in form, loves standard ground, and is trained by someone having a productive season — that combination tends to be worth paying attention to.
