Final Voyage

The most important number right now is the most recent one: a win at Cork just three weeks ago, on 24 April 2026, the horse's second career victory. That followed a second-place finish in the run before it, which means Final Voyage has been genuinely competitive in its last couple of outings after a string of blanks. For a horse that has historically found winning difficult, back-to-back placed and winning efforts in recent form is a real uptick.

Where Final Voyage does its best work is over a middle distance — between a mile and three furlongs and a mile and a half — picking up 1 win from 7 races at those trips, a win rate of 14%, or roughly 1 in 7. That's meaningfully better than its overall record and suggests the horse has a particular sweet spot. Against that, when stepped up to Class 2 — some of the better-quality races on the calendar — it has gone 0 from 7, which tells you the horse is workable at the right level but perhaps hasn't quite found the top tier within its range.

Trained by J P Murtagh out of Coolaghknock Glebe in County Kildare, Final Voyage comes from a yard in fine form — 54 winners sent out this season alone, which is a serious operation. Its most regular partner in the saddle is Yudish Geerdharry, though their partnership of 11 races together has yet to produce a win. That's a curious statistic given the horse has won with others, and it's something the team will presumably be weighing up as they plot what comes next.

Final Voyage raced just yesterday, so is clearly in active training and fit enough to run. At eight years old, the career arc is probably heading toward its final chapters, but a recent win and a horse that still seems to be trying makes this an interesting one to follow over the weeks ahead.
