Final Orders

The most striking thing about Final Orders is what happens when conditions suit him. On wet or muddy ground, he has won 3 of his 8 races — 38% — and Cromwell has spoken openly about how the horse's wind isn't at its best in those conditions, which makes that record even more impressive now that a small wind operation after December's run has seemingly unlocked another gear. At Bellewstown in Ireland, he is virtually unbeatable: 3 wins from just 4 visits, a record that any horse would be proud of. His first career win came there back in August 2022, and he's treated it like a home course ever since.

The big moment, though, came at Cheltenham. Final Orders won a top-tier race there on 12 December 2025, and then followed it up with another Cheltenham win on 11 March 2026 — just five weeks ago. Cromwell described jockey Keith Donoghue as "worth at least a stone" around that track, and the numbers back that up: together, Donoghue and Final Orders have won 8 of their 22 races — a remarkable rate of roughly 1 in every 2.5 attempts. That's not a partnership, that's a weapon.

The yard itself is in exceptional form — Cromwell has sent out 98 winners this season alone — and Final Orders has been right at the centre of it. His recent run of form reads two wins from his last six races, with a couple of places mixed in, and he raced just yesterday, so he is very much an active proposition. The trainer has mentioned the Cheltenham Festival as the next target, and given what this horse has already done there, that is not an idle boast. Final Orders is 0 from 4 at the very top level, but he keeps knocking on that door, and the door is starting to look a little less solid than it did.
