Mullins, training out of Muine Bheag in County Carlow, has sent out 230 winners already this season — a number that staggers even hardened racing fans — and Fillyoureye is one of the yard's quieter success stories. Mullins noted on a stable tour back in November that the horse had made a significant physical leap between his first and second outings, arriving bigger, stronger, and more mature. That kind of development in a young horse matters enormously. He broke his duck at Kilbeggan in April 2025, then graduated to hurdles, and Mullins fully expected him to improve further for the switch. So far, that confidence appears well placed.
There's also a family dimension worth knowing about. Fillyoureye is a half-brother to Colreevy, a seriously talented horse who has competed at the highest level for the same yard. That bloodline doesn't guarantee anything, but it tells you the raw material is there — and it helps explain why Mullins spoke about him with such quiet optimism.
His most recent win came at Punchestown in February 2026, around three months ago, and his last six runs read 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, then two blanks before that. In other words, he hit a purple patch in the middle of the season and has since been finding one or two horses too good. That's not a crisis — it's just a horse operating consistently at a competitive level. Paul Townend, one of the best jockeys in Ireland, has been on board for five of his eight races and has won once together with him, a partnership that Mullins clearly trusts.
Raced just one day ago and still very much in action, Fillyoureye is a horse in the middle of his story rather than at the end of it — young enough to keep improving, consistent enough to be taken seriously, and bred well enough to dream a little.
