Feud

The horse's best days came early in its career. It broke its duck at Haydock Park in the summer of 2023, then picked up another win at Galway the following year, but since then—nothing. Recent form shows a run of fifth, sixteenth, ninth, and tenth placings, scattered among the odd missing run. That doesn't read like a horse about to spring a surprise, but it does suggest one that is still racing and still showing up for competitions.

There are glimmers of form worth noting. When Danny Mullins rides Feud, something clicks: the pair have won two of six races together, a 33 per cent win rate that stands out dramatically against Feud's overall record. That suggests the horse responds to this particular jockey's style. It also prefers normal ground conditions—winning two of seven races on standard going—and seems to like distances between a mile and three furlongs and a mile and four furlongs, where it has won once from four attempts. Yet at Class 4 level, where it has been running most recently, Feud has failed entirely: seven races without a win at that standard.

Gerard O'Leary's yard in Kildare has been productive this season, and Feud remains active as a competitor. Whether it can find one more winning performance is the question hanging over a horse that feels like it has run its best days, but hasn't quite been retired yet.
