What makes the situation worth watching, though, is who has this horse in their care. Roger Varian's Newmarket yard has sent out 87 winners already this season — a number that speaks to an operation firing on all cylinders. Varian is one of the most respected trainers in Britain, and his base in Newmarket, the historic home of British racing, means Far Far Out is surrounded by serious horsepower in every sense. Horses from this yard are not placed there by accident.

A fifth-place finish in the most recent run is at least a small step in the right direction after the eighth, and at three years old there is plenty of time for things to click. Some horses take a few races simply to understand what is being asked of them. Whether Far Far Out is one of those is the question — and given the quality of the yard behind it, it would be unwise to write it off just yet.
