Famous Clermont

The career highlight came at Aintree on 13 April 2023, when Famous Clermont won a Class 2 race — one of the top races in Britain. Aintree is one of the most famous racecourses in the world, the home of the Grand National, and winning there at that level is the sort of achievement that defines a horse's career. The journey started three years earlier, with a first win at Exeter in March 2022, and Famous Clermont has kept on delivering ever since. The most recent victory came at Stratford-on-Avon in May 2025, and with a race just one day ago, this horse is still very much a working athlete at an age when many of its peers have long since retired.

The partnership with jockey Mr William Biddick has been particularly potent. In six races together, Biddick and Famous Clermont have won four times — that is winning roughly two in every three races they have shared, which is an exceptional partnership by any measure. Behind the scenes, trainer C R Barber operates a small yard in Woolhope, Herefordshire, and Famous Clermont is clearly the star of the operation. Small yards punching above their weight at top-level races are one of racing's great stories, and that Aintree Class 2 victory is exactly that.

Looking at the recent form — three wins from the last six races — Famous Clermont continues to compete with real purpose well into its career. The only note of caution is that last season's win at Stratford came ten months ago, and the form since has been mixed. But a horse that wins more than half its races over a career spanning three years, and that ran just yesterday, is clearly still in the fight. Famous Clermont is genuinely special — the statistics say so plainly.
