The two wins are worth looking at closely. The first came at Sedgefield in January 2024, and the second — more recently — at Hexham in November 2025, about five months ago now. Hexham is a tight, undulating track in Northumberland that suits horses who know their job, and getting it right there suggests Eveque is not simply making up the numbers. Jane Walton trains from Otterburn, just up the road in Northumberland, so there is a genuine local connection between horse, yard, and racecourse. Walton's yard has sent out 4 winners this season, which for a smaller northern operation is a solid return.

The partnership with jockey Peter Kavanagh is arguably the most striking detail here. Kavanagh has ridden Eveque in 11 of its 22 races and has been aboard for both wins — that is a win rate of 18%, or roughly 1 in every 5 rides together. For context, the horse wins just 1 in every 11 races overall. Put simply, when Kavanagh is in the saddle, Eveque is a noticeably different proposition. That kind of familiarity between horse and rider matters, particularly at this level where confidence and trust can be the difference.

Recent form shows a patchy run of results, but the horse raced just 15 days ago and remains active at 12, which in itself says something. Most horses at this age have been retired long before now. The fact that Eveque is still turning up, still placing, and still carrying a partnership that has found a way to win together makes this one worth keeping an eye on — especially if Kavanagh is booked and Hexham is on the agenda.
