Thirsk is Equity Law's happy hunting ground. At that track alone, the horse has won 2 of 8 races, which is far above its overall average. Just this week, on 14 August, it notched another victory there, extending a recent hot streak — the horse has won 2 of its last 6 races and hasn't had a blank run in months. More impressively, it has already conquered top-level competition: a Class 2 win at Sandown Park in April 2024, and another Class 2 success at Salisbury back in June 2023, where it broke its duck. These are big-race victories, the kind that mark a horse as capable of mixing it with proper competition.

Yet there's a puzzle. At Class 3 level, where most of its races come, Equity Law hasn't won once in 9 attempts. And curiously, its regular jockey David Allan has never managed a victory aboard it across 9 rides. These small inconsistencies suggest Equity Law performs best under the right circumstances — the right track, the right opposition, the right setup. It's active and racing regularly, and with Tim Easterby's yard having sent out 128 winners this season, there's clearly plenty of tactical know-how in the stable. For a horse that knows its way around Thirsk and has proven it can win at the top level, Equity Law remains a useful tool in the right hands.
