That might not sound dramatic, but Class 5 is competitive and reliable winners are harder to find than you'd think. The most recent win came at Wolverhampton just last week, so Em Four arrives in the best possible form: two wins from the last six outings, with a third and a first in the two most recent runs.

That is a remarkable figure by any standard, and it is no coincidence that trainer Jamie Osborne — Saffie's father — has the horse in his yard at Upper Lambourn. The stable is in excellent form this season, having already sent out 47 winners, so Em Four is operating in an environment that clearly knows how to win.

Four years old, six wins, and still improving — Em Four is a horse at the start of its best years, trained by a yard firing on all cylinders and carrying a jockey who clearly has a special understanding with it. There is plenty more to come.
