Nick Gifford, who trains her at Findon in West Sussex, puts it simply: she loves spinning round Plumpton and winging down that hill. So the yard keeps finding races there for her, and she keeps delivering. Three wins from 15 races at the track works out at one win in every five attempts there — a meaningful record for a horse who wins roughly one in every eight races overall. The difference tells you everything. Take her away from Plumpton and she is a decent, honest performer. Bring her back and she becomes something more.

She is eight years old and very much still in business — she raced just yesterday, and her last win came only two months ago, in February 2026. Her recent form reads 3-6-6-1-2-5, which shows a horse capable of mixing solid efforts with the odd quiet run, but never far from the action. Gifford describes her as tiny but honest, a horse who gives everything she has every time. That kind of attitude matters more than size.

The partnership with jockey Tabitha Worsley has been central to her success. Together they have won 3 of their 12 races — one in every four — a noticeably better return than Eliza Dolittle's overall record, and all three wins have come on that Plumpton circuit they both clearly suit. Owner Mike O'Shea makes the trip down from London by train to watch her at the track, which Gifford describes with some affection as a marriage made in heaven. There is something charming about a racing story that simple: the right horse, the right track, the right people, all arriving at the same place together.

Gifford's yard has sent out 12 winners this season, and Eliza Dolittle is part of that tally. She is not a horse chasing the biggest prizes — she competes mostly at Class 5 level, the bread-and-butter end of the sport — but she is exactly what racing runs on: a genuine, reliable character with a place she loves and a team that knows how to get the best out of her.
