At three years old, this horse is still very much at the beginning of its story. Joey Ramsden's yard in Newark, Nottinghamshire, has sent out five winners already this season, so the operation clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win. A fourth-place finish on debut is not a disaster — plenty of horses need that first run to shake off the rust and understand what racing is actually about. The question is whether Elite Approach learned enough from the experience to go one better next time out.
With the horse currently active and that debut fresh in the memory, the next run will tell us far more. If Ramsden spots an opportunity that suits, this could look like a very different horse second time around.
