He won there as recently as December 2025, and Roger Fell has made no secret of the fact that another crack at Newcastle on June 27th — a mile race — is firmly on the agenda. Fell describes him as something of a specialist at the track, and the numbers back that up emphatically. He's shown he goes well on normal ground too, winning 5 from 19 races in those conditions — just over 1 in 4 — which is the kind of figure that makes you pay attention when the going is right.

What makes this horse more than just a course specialist, though, is what's happened since the team took a punt on a wind operation last summer at the owner's suggestion. Fell says they "haven't really looked back since." The horse had a productive winter, landed that Newcastle win in December, and has now been sent to Royal Ascot for the Royal Hunt Cup — one of the most competitive mile races of the British flat season, a Class 1 occasion that draws horses from across Europe. Jockey Daniel Tudhope was effusive after the Ascot run, calling him raw and green but insisting there is real improvement still to come.

He hasn't won in his last 6 races, and his most recent effort at York was quietly passed over by Fell, which suggests it wasn't pretty. But with 23 winners already sent out by the yard this season, this is a team in form. If Eldrickjones lines up at Newcastle on June 27th on normal ground, with that record, you'd be mad not to be watching.
