Eichan San

The recent form figures of 11-4-19-7-4-8 do at least hint at some inconsistency rather than a horse simply running out the back. That finish of 4th, appearing twice in the last six races, suggests there are days when Eichan San is competitive enough to threaten the places, even if converting that into a result has so far proved elusive. The 19th-place finish is the kind of number that raises questions, though without knowing the size of the field it is hard to read too much into it.

Eichan San is trained by Daniel James Murphy at the Curragh in Co Kildare, a part of Ireland that sits at the very heart of the country's racing world. Murphy's yard has sent out 19 winners already this season, so there is clearly ability in the stable — Eichan San just hasn't been the one delivering it. With a race as recently as yesterday, the horse remains very much in active training and another opportunity is presumably not far away. Whether that brings a first win or place remains to be seen.
